HOW’D YOU GET STARTED PLAYING MUSIC? i was a battle emcee in high school, my grandfather and uncle on my dad’s side were in bands although that fact was hidden from us until we started playing music and it was mostly used to deter us.

FAVORITE LOCAL MUSICIAN BESIDES YOURSELF (AND WHY): David Jukes. His guitar style is unique and he’s just a great guy.

WHAT’S IN YOUR POCKET RIGHT NOW? Dryer Lint.

YOUR FAVORITE VENUE IN LITTLE ROCK (AND WHY)? Any place that doesn’t smell like spilled American Beer and cigarettes.

TELL ME ABOUT THE FIRST “REAL” CONCERT YOU EVER ATTENDED.

coliseum in Shreveport. It was my 16th birthday, I had two black eyes and a mouthful of broken teeth after being ambushed from behind by a future Marine earlier at school.
I fell asleep in my seat and my friends woke me up at the end of the show.

HOW ABOUT THE FIRST SHOW YOU EVER DID YOURSELF?
ho-hum played our first show at a house party in Arkadelphia in early 1991. We had nine original songs. We played them all and then played them all again in exact order.

BEST SOURCE FOR MUSICAL INFO? (MAG, WEBSITE, ETC) The hype machine.

WHAT DOES THIS TOWN NEED? a train system. a truth and reconciliation year.

YOUR THREE FAVORITE ALBUMS, ALL-TIME: King Tubby’s Special, Big Audio Dynamite’s “number ten upping street”, paul’s boutique by the beastie boys. (ask me tomorrow and it may be three different ones)

RE YOUR MUSIC: DOES YOUR MOM LIKE IT OR NOT? Some of it.

FUNNIEST THING THAT’S EVER HAPPENED AT ONE OF YOUR SHOWS:

the crowd line dancing to Jessie’s Girl by Rick Springfield during a set break in Wildwood, New Jersey. it was really more depressing than funny at the time.

AS A KID, WHAT’D YOU WANT TO GROW UP TO BE? a pro football player or a rock star.

MUSICAL/LIFE ADVICE YOU’D GIVE TO MY 13 YEAR OLD GUITAR FIEND SON?

Never pay for your own plane ticket. Never sign a contract that’s longer than one page unless it’s for cash in hand or you have no intention of honoring it.
