C’mon, AETN!! April 17, 2008

Last night, I viewed the “AETN Presents” episode featuring Epiphany & One Night Stand.   All I can say is, !#%$#^*(!!!!

The sound quality was terrible.  I could hear Piph’s vocals, but could barely make out Gina Gee’s.   At times, the camera would show fingers playing on keyboards and lips blowing on trumpet, but the instruments could not be heard.   The entire show had a muffled quality to it that robbed the viewers of a really great performance.

Then to the picture–what?  At one point, the picture faded out and went black for several seconds.   Maybe that’s a transmission issue, maybe not.  But what the hell are you thinking, AETN, by cutting off the show before the end of “5 Dollas”?  What?? The song was winding down but suddenly the show came to an abrupt, jarring end.  No fade-out, no credits, no anything.

Thanks for breaking new ground and having a hip-hop act on statewide TV, but it’s got to be better than that.  I understand that the show will re-air next Thursday.  Punch up the volume on those instruments and let Arkansas hear what they missed last night.

Arrrghhhh,

Glen

Glen you are right there were problems with the broadcast of AETN Presents: Front Row with Epiphany Wednesday night and as the producer no one could be more disappointed than me. My colleagues and I worked very hard to produce a high-quality program that showcased Epiphany and One Night Stand’s talents. We hired a professional audio engineer to record the performance and professionally mix the tracks for broadcast. A lot of effort was put into editing an hour’s performance into a half-hour program and selecting songs that best represented Epiphany. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts our broadcast was less than perfect. I was watching the program myself at home and was horrified by what I saw. The next day I immediately sought to track down the source of the problems. All I can tell you is that there was no way to anticipate what happened but now that it has been identified we will do our best to prevent it from happening again. Please watch the rebroadcast of AETN Presents: Front Row with Epiphany, Thursday April 24th at 6:30 p.m. – when it will air properly!
P.S. Thank you for watching and please keep providing feedback – it is much appreciated!

Casey–

Thanks for your comment. I’m really glad that the technical problems were fixable, and I’ll look forward to checking out the rebroadcast. I was there for the night of the taping–was a good show, and I’m really glad y’all did it. Thanks for showcasing Arkansas musicians on AETN.
